Yet Another With Connection Failure

Postby gkar on Fri Feb 29, 2008 11:07 pm

Hi,

Firstly, thanks for the efforts in getting this great app back up & running. I have been away from WinMX for some time but now I'm back & rearing to go; only my PC says no

I have installed as per your instructions but get the constant yellow light.

I have tried ver. 3.53 and am now on ver. 3.54 beta 4, connected via 56K dial up on secondary connection. I am running WinXP Home w SP2 & all updates, Comodo Firewall Pro ver. 3.0.14.276, AVG Antivirus & latest definitions.

Programmes seemed to install without hitch. Any thoughts? Thanks.

PS. I get the 'click for web help Live help at vladd44...' in the filter box.

@ Sable. Thanks.

I found a thread that stated if I could see the statement about live help in the top right hand box then it was issues with PC or firewall.

I am pretty naive when it comes to manually configuring ports etc. Is there a noobs guide on this? I believe it could be ports forwarding as this has benn mentioned a number of times.

I will continue to search both the threads & the site for info.

I believe it's definitely an issue with the Comodo Firewall. Is anyone familiar with how to set access for WinMX with this app?

I click on view active connections...

Don't worry. It seems I have happen-stanced my way through the issue. I had set a new 'Define New Trusted Application' & directed it to the WinMX app which did not work straight away. All is now green.

Cheers for this help area. It did work indirectly by determining what I needed to do.

Okay: this worked for a very short time. I then tried changing my 'incoming TCP Connections' to 1030 as one of my aother apps (antivirus was using this) & it worked. If this is incorrect & could leave my PC open to attacks please inform me. Thanks.

You should be fine as long as you don't trust the Centauri.

:D
Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.
Cartman: Maybe we should send you to a concentration camp.

Hi Gkar, I had connection problems that seemed to be time related, have discovered here in Uk there is a fair usage policy , so I seem to be ok late at night but during the day have real problems staying connected, if yours is time related may be same thing, I did all the usual, configured ports etc. stressed a lot, reinstalled twice, but it seems my problem is my ISP provider, so if your UK it may be a similar fault, try connecting late at night and see if you stay on, I get several hours during the night with no probs, all the best.......Astral-Warrior

Astral-Warrior, I am in New Zealand & don't believe there are any constraints regarding ISP policies in this matter. At least, I haven't heard of any in recent times.

Our main issue is with data capping of broadband plans; hence the reason I am still on dial-up. My plan is for unlimited usage & I haven't been disconnected for quite some time, now. Of course, I haven't been using p2p for some time either, so I may be wrong.
