Xvid help

Postby tomslick on Mon Oct 10, 2005 6:15 pm

i just downloaded a movie that is an Xvid. when I try to unpack the multitude of files, winzip tells me that they are not valid archive files. When I open the properties for each file, under the file type field they all say R00, R01, R02, R03...and so on. Im not sure what an Xvid is or how to work with one. Is it just possible that this torrent is corrupted, or do I need to be doing something? thanks for any help.

Extract the first archive to a folder. The rest will join automatically. this is called 'spanned rar' and is typical of most new films on bit torrent, etc. ;)

And when you download WinRAR make sure it's a ZIP and not a RAR file, otheriwse you wont be decompressing it...i say that for a reason, i did it myself, you just expect it to be a zip...

Winzip will not unzip rar files, you need winrar or another archiving program that will.
