Is my cd writer bad ???????

I have burned at least 6 cd and 6 movies Computer only 6 mon old....Now if I try to burn from playlist I get mess Put a Cd in drive It doesn't recognize a cd.....I tried wind media,Nero and musicmatch and Record now burners.....Do I need a new writer and why :(

check your device manager and see if an exclamation point shows up for that cd drive. Try uninstalling then reinstalling the driver (if an exclamation point is there) also try running the "troubleshooter" in device manager (right click the device > properties > troubleshoot) and follow the instructions. Another option is search the net for newer drivers for your cd drive and update the drivers.

also what brand of drive?

another option ---> only 6 months old? still under warrenty? take it in and get them to fix it.
