WinMX Error message (11)

Postby Steveietee on Mon Oct 09, 2006 3:13 am

I am receiving constantly the File Error (11) A Sharing Violation message although I am not trying to play or edit the files and even when I am not at home. Does anyone have any idea why?

Cheers ............ Steve.

File error (11)"A Sharing Violation has occurred" This happens when a file is being used by another program. Solution : Don't play or edit a file while trying to download it.

What is the file you are trying to download? If you are not laying or editing it, which other program may be using it?

Hi there.
I am trying to download a host of music video clips.
Do you think that using MX Monitor may be the reason?

Cheers .......... Steve.

File error (11) often happens when one or both of the users has "Watch Folders" activated (different media players use different terminology) thus making the file appear to be in use by another program. MusicMatchJukebox is usual culpert but the others have similar functions. It could be the other user (more often is).. :mack

Thanks for the response guys.
I have shut down the MC monitor which seems to have halved the problem, however I forgot to mention that the error message is usually accompanied by my Auto Find Souces feature which resets to zero by itself.
Maybe this will give a further indication of what is wrong?

Cheers .......... Steve.

AFS shd not reset itself to 0.... yr WinMX seems corrupted.

Go here : http://www.vladd44.com/mx/piepatch.php
Click on Download Pie Auto Updater Installer
Simply download the installer, and run. You will see two icons in your system tray : Pie Auto Updater and PeerGuardian Lite.
Right click on the Pie Auto Updater icon and click on Manual Update Now.

Then go to http://www.vladd44.com/mx/winmxmirror.php and reinstall yr WinMX.

U shd be fine after that.

Pls go to this room where we can help u online : http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic ... 4707#34707

Hi again guys.

A completely new installation appears to have cured 90% of the problems but it does re-occur sometimes. This I can live with though.

Cheers.
