winmx crashes my internet connection - any help appreciated

Every few hours my WinMX connection dies... but not only that, it kills my entire internet connection and I have to reboot my computer. This has only been happening for the past three months.

My Hardware:
Intel P4 3.2Ghz
L2 Cache: 1024Kb
Memory: 2048 MB
Motherboard: Dell OU7077
Cable modem: Arris model TM402P

My Software:
WinMX 3.54beta
MXMonitor 1.28
Windows XP Pro SP2
Norton Internet Security 2006 with Norton Firewall (configured to let WinMX go)

what version internet explorer, and what patch and version?

I am running Internet Explorer version 6.0 and the patch I'm using is the one that comes in the MXPie Patch automatic installer that I downloaded from this website.

Rholder, have u updated yr router to the latest version? Could be a firmware issue. (Arris' Touchstone Telephony Modem TM402P model for the large, PacketCable-based deployment in Quebec.)

Other than that ... yr isp, Comcast (one of the isp blockers/throttlers) could be isp kicking u.

Optimum Online aka Comcast Optonline-OOL is known to block/cap/throttle P2P-applications. Try TCP-port 60060 and UDP-port 60069
