PIEpatch, Easy to use and simple to install. The easiest way to get WinMX working again.


If you installed the winmxgroup,com ws2_32.dll file

The Dll patch will negate the value of the PIEpatch. If you want to use the PIEpatch, you will need to uninstall ws2_32.dll.

[url=file:///c:/Program%20Files/WinMX/]C:\Program Files\WinMX[/url]. <-- Clicking will allow you to open the folder that WinMX defaults to,here you can verify whether you have the dll installed.

This is a matter of personal preference, however to take advantage of the latest PIEpatch you will need to uninstall the dll.

Still cannot connect to winmx. my computer cannot find ipconfig/flushdns or services.msc. when i first installed the patch 2 days ago, the box @ the upper left corner turned black again and said please be patient. my isp kicked me off like they do every 4 hours, and since then the box remains white. i installed todays patch - still no luck. any ideas???

The patch really works!!! Because of this surprising comeback the new WinMX should be called WinMX Phoenix.

One question.
How come the RIAA drones are still conected to the Network? I mean, they don't have the patch, do they?

I posted this a while ago hoping to get an answer, but knowing that a whole boatload of people are in the same situation and that it might take quite a while.

In the meantime, the new patch was created. I removed the .dll mentioned in that post and installed the new patch (manually first, then after a reboot and an unsuccessful attempt to connect, automatically) and now have no connection at all. I reverted to Pie 2.5 and replaced the .dll and still have no connection. I went through every step I had previously done (in the same order) and tried the new patch again. Now it takes me at least 6 minutes just to connect, and when it finally does I have no search capability and no one can DL from me.

Guess I'll rely on my wife's computer (if she'll ever leave her chair ) or resort to buying CDs again. (stupid RIAA )

If you use the dll, there is no point in adding the PIEpatch.

Also, did you flush dns?

I didn't have a file compare tool, but it looks like the v2.6 hosts file is exactly the same as the v2.5 hosts file.

Was there just some change in the installer?

If x-ray's into nothing, then please let us know. If he's into something, then please let us know as well. I can trust you guys word, but I believe the public and user base of Winmx are entitled to have an idea about whats going on and how that may affect their use of Winmx or for that matter their privacy and security.

The PIE patch does not go in your WinMX folder.
Check the directions again, as the actual location varies based on what OS you have.

Do not run MXMonitor.
Delete yr ws2_32.dll from yr winmx folder.

Pls remember to re-install the pie patch version 2.6 after u delete the dll patch.
Restart WinMX .. u shd be able to connect.

R u using any patch?

What settings did u set ur TCP and UDP to?

R u using a router?

Do u have a firewall on?

is it good to always keep up to date for the new patchs... or you are working on them to help does who still cant log in winmx
i got the first one from this forum last week and then i went to get the www.winmxworld.com patch
