WinMX.com Fix PIE Patch 2.6 - Update

is it good to always keep up to date for the new patchs... or you are working on them to help does who still cant log in winmx
i got the first one from this forum last week and then i went to get the www.winmxworld.com patch

It's a good idea to keep up with the latest patch. The reason why newer patches are released is that newer ones make use of more servers. The first patch use 1 server- if it was trying to handle everyone, it would be overwhelmed and would crash. Newwer patches use multiple servers.
However, if you got 1 patch here and a later on from winmxworld you're going to run into problems with incompatibility. The two do not work well together. You need to pick one or the other.

Do not run MXMonitor.
Delete yr ws2_32.dll from yr winmx folder.

Pls remember to re-install the pie patch version 2.6 after u delete the dll patch.
Restart WinMX .. u shd be able to connect.

The only ws2_32.ll's on my pc (Win MX) are in:
c:\windows\system32
c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

i would strongly advise against attempting to remove the first one, although the second shouldn't cause problems if you remove it it is better to leave it

I have installed a newer version, I have downloaded the patch and I have changed my UDP/TCP options to every possible combination. I have changed the hosts and did ipconfig. I have Windows XP and have used WinMX b4 without any problems. I have waited 10 mins and more to connect and still no connection. I was on a secondary connection originally on WinMx but now can't get either one to connect and the primary won't let me select it. Please help.......

I'm so glad the community of WinMX is fighting back. To hell with RIAA! The next step to defeat these basturds is to vote. Vote against every basturd that supports these jerks. Vote, vote, vote! Also, email or call you local represenatives and give them an ear full. It's about power for the people by the people. Not power for the conglomerates at the expense of the populus also know as the cash cow that keeps these jerks in business. If you can't even select primary bt have already played with your TCP and UDP ports then it comes down to 1 of two things:
1) YOu're sttill set to use a SOCKS Proxy for outgoing TCP
2) You have a low-speed connection.
Just changing ports at random is not a good idea. For each type you can pick one of 65,536 ports. Since there's two type, that means you have a 1 in 131,072 chance of picking a good combination. You're better off hoping to get struck by lightning tonight.

i downloaded winmx again,so the files were there,i downloaded the patch directly
into the winmx directory,manually configured the set up, put a number one infront of the 6257so its 16257. it connected streight away. as a primary connection.
p=9 s=12 spm 11523...seems to work better than before..im on xp home.

Thanks to all who are doing the Lord's work. I am using the PIE patch 2.6, and I have noticed that since I've installed it, after an hour or so of being on the WinMX network, my network (a small 3 computer, cable modem router and switch) shuts down. I can "repair" connection from XP, and I get a success message, but the network and the Internet will not function until I reset the modem and router, then restart the main computer. Is anyone else having troubles like this? Thanks again. Peace and love to all.

i put the pie patch in my winmx folder,chose to manually configure, then i just put a number 1 infront of both the tcp and udp numbers opened the winmx and it came streight on line. as a primary connection. as a matter of fact ..it works better than it has ever done before. both uploads and downloads connect faster.
im well impressed. i have been a winmx user for years,and was devastated when it went down. over the moon now its working again.stuff all the other p2p's with there spyware and adverts. well done and thank you to all involved..

Make sure the file you're trying to delete is the WS2_32.DLL that is in your main WinMX folder. There are other files with this exact same name in other directories that are required for Windows to function properly.

Pls remove the ws2_32.dll ONLY from yr WinMX folder (yr WinMx folder is the one containing yr winmx.exe which u r running WinMX from) and do not delete it from anywhere else.

If u do not have it ... u r safe and won't have disconnect problems

If u have connection problems ...

Step 1: Check if this file is in yr winmx folder ... ws2_32.dll ... if it is there ... pls delete it. (u may need to close winmx to do this)

Step 2 : pls install pie patch 2.6 from here : FIX

Step 3 : pls restart yr winmx

After that, u shd be able to connect again. Any probs, let us know.

I kjnow I am an idiot for doing this, but when WinMX stopped working I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it, with the obvious results. Is there any way I can get things going again, as the PIE patch on its own does not help?

OK, here's the drill that worked for me:
Click on Start
Open: Control Panel
Open: Add/Remove Software
Remove: WinMX
Remove: PIE 2.6
Exit

Open: My Computer
Open: C:\
Open: Program Files
Delete every folder that has WinMX and PIE 2.6
Create a brand new WinMX folder (C:\ProgramFiles\WinMX)
Exit

Empty your Recycle Bin

Shut down and Restart

Go back on-line and d/l WinMX 3.53 or 3.54Beta whichever you prefer to C:\ProgramFiles\WinMX. DO NOT open it at this point.

d/l and install PIE2.6 to your WinMX folder (C:\ProgramFiles\WinMX)
Open: My Computer
Open: C:\
Open: ProgramFiles
Open: WinMX
Click on Install icon
While installing: Use the manual configuration option instaed of the automatic configuration. When the first screen comes up, don't mess with it, click on "Next" and tick the box that says accept TCP on port 6699...click "next" again and tick the box for "accept UDP on port 6257. Click "next".

Make sure your firewall is configured to those settings.

This should get you back up and running. Good luck

Hello, I have no computer savvy at all!!! I tried to repair my WinMx with the patch. However, I am having no luck at all. I clicked on the automatic install link, hit the next buttons and Winmx still does not work.
Can you tell me what am I still doing wrong??? Thanks much!

Thanks to Vladd and everyone here for their help in getting WinMX up and running again. I have Windows ME and was concerned about using the patch from some of the messages I had read here. I downloaded and installed the PIE Patch 2.6 yesterday and everything worked great... no problems at all!!!

Need to configure ports, router and firewall..

A) Changing ports to 16699/16257 with no proxy selected :

1) Hit Settings (button at top of winmx screen)
2) Internet Connection > Outgoing TCP Connections > Click : Don’t use a proxy server (connect directly)
3) Incoming TCP Connections : Click the top option : Listen on port 16699 for incoming TCP Connections (type in 16699)
4) Internet Connection > In/Out UDP Packets > Click the top option : Send and receive UDP datagrams on port 16257 (type in 16257)
5) Hit Close and restart winmx

B) If u have a router ... pls map yr router to the same ports : TCP = 16699, UDP =16257

C) : Disable XP Firewall (if u r using xp) and if u have yr own firewall : to allow WinMX (If u do not have any firewall pls get Sygate firewall free here : http://smb.sygate.com/download_buy.htm and set Sygate to allow WinMX

To Disable XP Firewall :
Start > Right click My Network Places > Hit Properties > for the connection u see there (eg: LAN) right click on LAN (if it is LAN) and hit Properties > Select Advanced tab > at Windows Firewall … hit Settings > Click *Off* > hit OK.

U shd be able to download after that, any probs, let us know. I am in V44 room @ Vladd44_69591C181E61 as Kayleigh and inter-room PR (will help when I am in, if I am not there ... there r many others who r also there to help u, come by if u still have problems
