If your isp is blocking winmx just by changing the ports winmx uses should get winmx working again.

In most cases this is true, however if they're using packet filtering and analysis of the packet, sometimes that gets you nowhere.

Hi having some problems downloading and uploading, im on secondary connection, went to vladd44 chat, followed steps there, but when got to ROUTER part the user helping me asked if i had one, and model, I said no but he told me I MUST have one, because my IP started with 10.100 yada yada.for all I know Ive got a modem, anyways tried the portforward to see model in case I had one, couldn find anything to what I believe my modem to be is.
Its a Com21 DOXport. Anyways getting a lot of timed out connection, incoming connection and then nothing, BUT i can download from SOME and only SOME can download from me, also people i try downloading from have tried helping me but no such luck. so the user at vladd thinking i had a router did not continue giving me instructions suposing i do have a modem so we just got to that step. Now do I have a router if my internet comes from cable company meaning conected to tv as well?
Would appreciate the help, thanks a lot beforehand.

If you're ip reads 10.xxx.xxx.xxx then some form of router is involved, often (increasingly) what look like plain modems include this function. If you can't find the make/model at www.portforward.com, try looking for documentation (there's almost always a manual supplied in .pdf format on cd that came with the hardware), if that's no help, have a quick look on your isp's website, often they have instructions for port forwarding for hardware they supplied in the help section, failing that, visit the modem manufacturers website, you should be able to locate instructions there.

Or try the help room again, someone may be able to find you a link to instructions or perhaps talk you through the process, I've seen this happen in the winmxworld help chatroom, i know for a fact from observation that the vladd44 one has equally helpful people in it.

I told you at that time the same thing BB just told you. BAsed ont he address, your modem has built-in router functions. Being unable to find information online, I directed you to look for the manufacturer's information.
I stopped helping because you were insisting you didn't have a router. You can't help a person who refuses that help.

Here is a users guide for the DOXport

www.smarthome.com/manuals/86811H_users.pdf

The manufacturer www.com21.com appears to be out of business also there are articles on Vulnerability in some versions of firmware. Google COM21 DOXport and read.
