WinMX and Windows 7

Postby heat84 on Mon Jul 27, 2009 11:56 pm

Anyone else having problems with it? I don't have a router. No firewalls running. When I do the connection test it will pass (after changing the default UDP port) 1 time and fail the next. When I disable UPnP, the connection test doesn't work at all. That's another thing. I thought the patch only supported router UPnP and not OS UPnP.

When I try from my dad's computer(which is the server in our 2 PC, crossover cable connected LAN) that's running XP, WinMX works fine.

I have Windows XP Pro and am running WinMX fine. Now I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS and can't get logged on to WinMX. Has anyone come up with a patch yet or know of a way to access WinMX.
Thanks for any info.

There is a guide to installing Winmx on Windows 7 here: http://forum.winmxworld.com/index.php/topic,8134.0.html

Maybe the problem he's having is with UAC or Windows firewall. The installer doesn't mention those. Unfortunately, I can't remember my experience with WinMX and them. I imagine I would've been prompted fro permission and said yes and that was the end of it though. I have them disabled. Try temporarily disabling them until you get the connection worked out.
