What do you think is your purpose in life?

Hello. I'm new here but I realy want to ask you...
We've all gone through this phase in life, sometimes more often than others. But haven't you ever asked yourself, "Why am I on this earth"? What am I here for? Exactly just what is your purpose in life?

Well, i've not gone through that phase yet, perhaps it is still to come. I have gazed up at the stars and wondered what's out there, perhaps in a galaxy far far away. We have learned now that we cannot regard this planet as being fenced in and a secure abiding place for Man; we can never anticipate the unseen good or evil that may come upon us suddenly out of space.

A very good question, “who are we and why are we here?"

In a 60 Minutes interview, Tom Brady (superbowl super quarterback) was asked what “...was his purpose in life?” You’d think he has it all…riches, a beautiful girlfriend, sports success. He stated, “Why do I have three Super Bowl rings and still feel like there's something greater out there for me? I mean, maybe a lot of people would say, 'Hey, man, this is what is. I reached my goal, my dream, my life.' Me, I think, 'God, it's got to be more than this.'"

Man searches…and I suppose Tom Brady continues to look…

I come from a biblical perspective…

The simple answer is: “Thou (God)hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11). We were created by Him and for Him (God).

Life is about honoring God with our thoughts and lives.

Jesus spoke about giving up “all” in order to be His disciple. We often think of “things” or “achievements” as our purpose, yet Jesus asked us to give up everything and follow Him. Quite a different view of one's purpose in life; however, when one lives for things eternal versus the moment, life takes on a different meaning.

Paul the apostle wrote, "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." This summary of life and death is quite different from the pursuits of many people.

Again, quite a worthy question to ask one’s purpose…the Bible says that many people stand on shaky ground as though standing on shifting sand in respect to belief and purpose. I think one must start with where one’s feet are grounded to see what purpose is true. Is it absolutely necessary that life have a cosmically bestowed purpose? I say it can have no other purpose, but that is my presupposition. Perhaps that is the difference in living a life that is temporal and living one that is eternal.

The purpose of my life is to pose as a negative role model. That way kids can look at me and say, "No way am I going to end up like that pill popping, whiskey soaked, cigar smoking, womanizing, happy son-of-a-beeyotch DragonRider, I want to end up like a positive role model...like Mando...denying myself all the pleasures of this earthly world so that I will end up in heaven worshipping God on my knees because I will always believe, for eternity, that I am a sinner who is vastly inferior and not worthy to be in the presence of God".

Ahhh...Debaser, my friend, ty for the wb...I know that you missed me, just as I have missed you and all of my other forum friends...after all without me who would you have to turn to in order to get the TRUE facts about British history...why, you would have to rely on British History books written by Brits...(and we both know how those ethnocentrical folks can bend the truth...look what King James did to the Bible...), I never lie...if you don't believe me just ask me, would I lie to you?...LOL

My new purpose in life is to correct British history so that it better conforms to the Irish view of it...LMFAO

DR, you will find all the answers you need in the book i sent you, including questions about the very fabric of life itself, such as 'Is your pub a wine bar?" and other such important questions. There are also some valuable history lessons there for you.

See...I do serve a purpose in life...I teach Brits how to speak proper English...

Numero uno: "British" is ALWAYS capitalized...(it is a proper noun)...

Secondly: It's "do your best"...not "do your worst"

Thirdly: I must be doing something right...you didn't throw any extra vowels into any of the words you used...

Actually, "do your worst" is an old German phrase...it was originally "do your Wurst" referring to a type of sausage...but as usual the British not only misquoted it but mispelled it also...

Yes..."do your Best"...an old German military phrase referring to a city in France...if I remember my history correctly...LOL
