what is the maximum upload and download speeds

Postby Vixen669 on Sat Jan 04, 2003 12:40 am

we have been using win mx for about a month now we have xp and dsl the fastest we can get a download to go is 15000 yet we see people zipping though our files even when we limit the broadband to 5000 we have tried raising and lowering these amounts but we cant seem to increase our speed.

how do people manage to jump the queue line you can see them enter at example lets say 30 next thing you know the are at the top downloading from us and now instead of the limit of 1 upload that we have set they have 10 going at once how do they do that ?

please help

A few ?

have u been to http://dslreports.com/tools ? run speed test, then tweak test. You will need to know what speed DSL service your ISP is offering, there is great variation in services.

The speed your ISp is offering is the sped you use when running tweak test. DO not use the results of the speed test, that is what you are getting, not what u should b getting.

After running these tests, if you are unsure what to do, you can post the links in this forum and I will advise from there. But If you are willing, the most important variable to speed improvement will be the TCP Receive Window (Also called RWIN) If this variable is on the low part of the range of acceptability, consider raising it. Reboot and run speed test again. If minimuim of errors in new test, and speeds are faster, GREAT. If not a few more times could find the best choice. If all else fails you can return to the original value..If you remember it.....

You say you limit UL to 5000, thats a little low for DSL, try not limiting, but limit to 2 or 3 ul, 1 ul per user....(That is for 256k ul) if 128 go with less.

So you have checked the UL limit box, have u checked the DL limit box?

As far as auto starts, it should only be small files that start. Nothing big should skip queue unless done so manually.
