Postby muchacho on Tue Oct 11, 2005 3:19 pm

Hi all, i need some help useing torrents. Im not sure whether or not that is exactly what i shoud be doing, so would you please correct me if im wrong?
Here's what i do:
I go to my favourite torrent site http://torrentvalley.com and i find what i want to download, i then click on "download torrent" and i download a small file on my computer. Then i open that file with azureus. Now it should start doanloading, right?
Well it doesnt. Can you tell me if I am doing something wrong or i should look for the problem elsewhere?

thanks in advance

Sometimes it takes awhile for the torrent to find and connect to trackers. There is no guarantee that torrents will start downloading immediately.

Well I leave it this way, and when I come back, after an hour or so it hasn't downloaded anything. Could it be a problem with the website? Im useing http://torrentvalley.com - it seems real good, and has everything I need. Should I try another one?

Did you notice if the torrent/s were seeded? Unseeded torrents won't download, or they'll not complete. Did azureus say you passed the connection wizard test? With azureus you need to have one router/ firewall port opened for transfers to take place. I notice some of their torrents are tracked by dht only, so you can also see if the torrent is dht tracked only and you have dht disabled. The detaoils page shows an announce url and that will show whether it's dht, tracker, or a combination of both. Also be shure to check the azureus torrent details for any tracker messages, such as "unrecognised host", or other errors that will help determine the solution. The above error commonly means you have to register on the tracker hosting that torrent.
