A nice one I've heard of is All2Lame.

Not only can it convert WAV to MP3, but if you put CLI decoders for other formats like FLAC into its folder, then it can convert those formats to MP3 too.

I use mainly toys from NCH, mainly Express Rip for ripping and Switch for file conversion.

Yes AudioGrabber is nice, but the main homepage is http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/ for most of us.

Why not just use a frontend for LAME 3.97? Isn't that what it's there for in the first place?

Yes which is why I recommended ALL2LAME. It can encode more than just WAV to MP3 - it can be set up to encode from other formats such as FLAC, Monkey's Audio and WavPack to MP3 too - all using LAME and commandline-based decoders.

Personally I convert by SoundTaxi - it offers protected audio conversions and is extremely useful for my case (I download from Napster & iTunes) 8)

Yeah! It removes audio protection easily - I'm loving it too :)
