Postby Jackofalltrades on Sun Jan 30, 2005 7:21 am

Hi,
i got quite a lot of mp3's, but sometimes when i play them in a playlist ive noticed some are a lot louder than other's and if u got volume up high, can even make u jump! lol. i just wanted to know what causes this, and if there is a way to re-encode these mp3's so there all about the same volume
thanks for any help :)

Caused by folks recording/ripping with gain set too high.. cure = MP3Gain. :snow

*NOTE: Don't run it on an AlbumWrapped _ALBW (it can ruin the "extractability" of it..extract & run MP3Gain on the singles)

Actually some CD albums are just mastered louder than others.

But yeah... MP3Gain.

or, if you're too lazy for that - your player should have an option to do it automatically as it plays them
