Vodei wrapper removal

Postby dodey23 on Thu Jul 28, 2005 1:55 pm

The description is here: http://www.vladd44.com/video/vodei.php

however i cant get either of the procedures to work for me.

I read the instructions on how to try to remove this wrapper from .avi files but it cant seem to get it to work for me.

I was wondering if anyone here could give me a dumbed down description of how to use the hex editor or graphedit software. or better yet an easy and quick alternative for a software n00b such as myself :)

Do i actually have to install the vodei codec? I have heard it screws up every video file you have if you do that. Wanted to take the easiest route possible.

Anyway, tried both the hex editor and graphedit and I get stuck on both. Cant find the text in the hex editor im supposed to look for, and have no clue where to start using GraphEdit and SysEnum program that it came with.

huge thread on how nasty a scam this program is too. found here http://forum.inmatrix.com/index.php?showtopic=2256&st=0

its 6 pages, but definitely an interesting read if you have the time :)

Thank you for your time!

I will look into that. I heard that once you install the program all your video files on your computer will be bugged even after you uninstall it. So i dont think ill bother with that till he explains that part.

80 views and only 1 response? Come on guys, help a brother out!

Vladd44, I think there is a simpler way.

In Graphedit, I just connected both video and audio to the AVI Mux, and then I connected the AVI Mux to the file writer. The resulting AVI has video and sound, and plays in non-WMP players such as VLC and MPlayer on Linux. :wave

So you can remove the Vodei crap in one step, without bothering with VirtualDub (which I couldn't get to remix the avi and mp3 anyhow.)

Someone should be uploading to Limewire and other P2P networks, non-vodei encoded copies of all the content from moviesempire.com, and marking them prominently as not needing the vodei software.

I'm getting a problem with graphedit when I try to open the vodei splitter.
"The filter could not be created. Resources used by this filter may already be in use. ClassFactory annot supply requested class (Return code: 0x80040111)"
I did install the old version of the "codec" from the download, but had a hard time removing the one in place. It would not replace the old one. I had to rename the old one, then reboot and delete it.
Anyone know if this is an issue with windows or graphedit?
Thanks in advance.

I hate to bump a thread that is three months old, but is there any resolution to this?

Yes, there IS a nice solution to this.
The solution is for ANY version of Vodei crap.

First, you have to install codec, but you can use Norton Ghost or Acronis TrueImage to backup-restore the entire system.

Second:
1. Just like on vlad44's page, with Graphedit, split Video and Audio from infected AVI.

2. With VirtualDub MP3Mod, join with recode - Audio (in direct stream mode) and Video (in full processing mode) Yes, you SHOULD RECODE the file's Video stream with something like DIVX or XVID, because after extraction, due to the nature of this crap, the video streams B-Frames are damaged.

You can notice it by scrolling thru the Videostream- the screen will be aa mess for a couple of secs.

If its ok for you, you can also join without recode, as stated on vlad44's page, but the videostream will stay damaged.

And on Vodei, It seems the last version infects BFrames and codes them. So its impossible make the movie playable with Hexedit.

If my solution helped you, please consider NOT GOING to moviesempire, hence they think you support them, NOT BUYING any sht XXX from them and from others too.

Meet a girl, who will love you - NOT your money. Its very very easy.

And FCK THE PORN INDUSTRY!
BEFORE THEY FCK YOUR FUTURE GIRL AND YOUR VALET!

I agreed with everything but "Meet a girl, who will love you - NOT your money. Its very very easy. " Please, how naive are you? You must not have much experience.. If they don't want money then they want kids or constant attention and the moment you don't give them what they want they seek someone else to latch on to who will, until they stop and the cycle repeats. Like a goddamn parasite going from one host to the other. And no I'm not saying it's just females, the simple fact is that your "love" is a fable.

re: Vodei wrapper removal

Postby palvarez83 on Thu Jul 06, 2006 6:30 pm

So after downloading a movie I learned about the wrapper. The movie said it required Vodei MP 2.0. I downloaded it it worked fine, until it started asking me for a registration, so I pushed the "later" button. I also started getting this wierd pop ups. I decided to do a google search and found out about all this crap. I did a system restore on XP and that got rid of it the problems. Anyhow, when I tried to fix it using graph edit after reinstalling Vodei MP 2.0 I could not get the vodei splitter. Instead I used the vodei file source, which appears to be a combination of the file and the splitter itself, because it has the file name of the vodei infected file and as output it has the both audio and video seperately. I connected the rest as per Vladd's tutorial, but when I tried to play it it prompted me for a registration, and apparently I had exceeded the limited number of free uses because the "later" button was greyed out. Any suggestions on how to get around it? Its attempting it on another computer my only option? I'm desperate! Please help me! Thanks in advance.

Mostly VirtualDubMod brings up a message box when I open video streams I've ripped from vodei avi's which says:

Code: Select all
[!] Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XVID' (unknown).
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to
decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media
Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct stream copy' is available for this
    video.

Is there a way round this to do the recoding? I find it's not necessary most of the time because I found another thread here that suggested DixFix. This works most of the time but for the others I'd like to try your suggestion - except I can't :(
