hi,
thank you for quick reply, however when i download the piepatch at the end it says missing component 'msint/ocx' or similar.
can you advise please
sorry to be a pest
mally
here answer these for me
1) what version of vista including architecture x86 i586 ppc x86_64 sparc sparc64
2) what version of winmx
3) wherd you download the patch and your copy of vista from
4)is this a shadow copy bound to xp that could cause missing files
5) have you done something stupid like deleted system files because you beleived you didnt need them and that they were watsing system resources because you could not find them in xp
6) when you installed both winmx and the pie patch did you right click the installer file clicked properties and set the compatability mode on both to windows xp w/ service pack 2 as this could be one of the major causes of your problem tho personally i havent seen that error messege myself.

Mally, what is the exact error message that u see?
Is it something like this? : Component 'msint.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
Now this file 'msint.ocx' is very impt for us to find the solution to yr error and I think it is incorrectly named in yr post cos I don't find many search results for it.
So pls paste the exact error message here so that we can help u, Mally.
Drag and drop yr msint.ocx file onto regsvr32.exe in Windows\system32 folder. Make a shortcut for regsvr32.exe in the same folder the msint.ocx is in and drag and drop it that way.
After that, restart yr comp and reinstall yr Pie Auto Updater patch again. It shd work then.
geuss dell is at it again.
i dont see why pc manufacturers cant just give you a retail copy of vista without the modifications.
this is clearly got to be fromdell f**k with the system files
ive never even heard of this problem let alone see it 4 myself
Can someone please please help me, I am having a nightmare when trying to manually update on the Pie Auto Updater. I am using WINDOWS Vista, which I suspect might be the cause of the problem. When I click Manually Update Now, I get the following error message:
Error while updating HOSTS file. Please make sure that the Internet connection is available and the file is not marked read-only.
Path/File access error.
My Hosts file is stored under: C:/Windows/System32/Drivers. I have checked that it is NOT marked read-only and have also changed the permission so I can unblock the file for use on WIN XP.
