use nero to convert your movie ....its a easy one step conversion.....choose to burn as a VCD and nero will convert it for you from avi to vcd in one easy step......now i sound like a commercial LMAO but thats all you do

open nero
choose vcd and hit new
and drag and drop your avi
and hit file
choose write cd
and it will convert it and burn it
it will take a hour or two just like virtual dub and tmpge but it is a whole lot less work

I don't have anyluck doing that that way.
It tells you it needs to encode it then when it does it only gives you a couple min's of it and not the whole file?
Also what if its to long for the disc being used?

I personally wouldn't use Nero to encode either, but again, that's just personal preference, I think TMPGEnc does a better job. YOu didn't give much information as to what you are trying to do, and I couldn't get to the link you mentioned, but I will take a guess that you are trying to encode an avi to vcd and TMPGEnc doesn't recognize the audio. That will happen if your audio is either ac3 or vbr (variable bitrate). If you use vdub to strip the audio and mux it in tmpgenc then you shouldn't "save as wav," you should click on "full processing" and save it as pcm, then use the pcm as your audio in TMPGEnc. There are easier apps which will decompress your audio to pcm, but VDub will do it just fine.

Plym, I have used it, and I do agree that it's easy, but I'm a stickler for quality. Probably more like a fanatic...hehe That's why what scares me most is "easy" :P
