Updates to Peer Caches - Attn: WinMX Group

Postby Gemini777 on Thu Oct 20, 2005 7:35 pm

PIE Group has been doing some updates on our peer caches, please update the dll fix to reflect the following changes:

Please use the following for your DNS:
cache6: 67.18.233.36
cache7: 67.18.233.36
cache8: 209.67.209.50
cache9: 209.67.209.50

(In that order of preference and load)

In the meantime, please stop all use of 205.238.40.1, 205.238.40.2 and 82.43.224.20 as they are severely overloaded.

We will be releasing an updated PIE patch soon, so if you would like any of your servers to be included, please provide us with a current list and any loading considerations.

Thank you.

212.227.64.159 in theory has about 50 times the capacity of 82.195.155.5
82.195.155.5 has seen a maximum load of about 6000 requests per second, and based on the resource usage of those traffic levels it should have no problem handling up to about 100,000 requests per second... making the estimated capacity of 212.227.64.159 somewhere in the order of a few million requests per second

Thank you for responding, KM.

We will include 212.227.64.159 and 82.195.155.5 in the next PIE Patch release, taking into consideration that 212.227.64.159 can handle more load.

In the spirit of co-operation we request that you remove 205.238.40.1 from your list. PIE Group has not included this server in PIE patch since the beginning of October. We will not just shut it down without warning as many, many users are still using it as their primary means of connection. The goal is to decrease the load on this server by encouraging people to update to newer patches, so that when it is shut down it effects the network as little as possible. Please co-operate with us in this effort by removing it from your list.
