Unable to burn a CD with downloaded music

Postby geoshar on Wed Jun 08, 2005 3:04 pm

 I installed WinMx, and successfully downloaded 22 songs.
They play just fine on my computer, but I cannot burn them to a CD with any program.
My Burning software freezes each time I try.

I tried using the XP wizard, and it froze as well.
When I tried burning using Media player.. it said each of the files "would not fit".

"Properties" display the file size as 3.71 mb (3,954,857 bytes)
Length 4:17
Bitrate 128kbps
Audio Codec MPEG Audio Layer 3
128bps

Obviously I don't have WinMx set up properly, but I don't know what and how to change it?

I would appreciate any help you can give me..keeping in mind I am very green and new at all of this.

I have B"s Recorder Gold, and have had no problem burning previous CD's with this program .
(I no longer use Nero, and don't want to install a second burner.Ran into difficulties before by running two.)

never heard of it.

Not sure why you would choose it over nero, but to each his own.

Sounds like your now running into difficulties by running 1. :)

but......... I will try.......

1. there is nothing wrong with your winmx setup, if the mp3 downloads, its done, nothing you change in winmx settings will let it download any differently.

2. The doest fit issue, sounds like your trying to burn more than the time or size limit of cd. time limit should be around 80 minutes.

3. I would really strongly urge you to consider trying nero again.

Thank you so much for your reply!
I did think of the file size being too big, so reduced it to 69 minutes.Still the burner froze.
I tried making a backup "data" CD, that didn't work either.
However, when I tried to burn a data DVD with the same program, I was able to put the 18 songs on a DVD.(The DVD is half full.)

Is an of this making any sense ?

Then its clear the file/s you are trying to burn are not simply mp3 music files, if it half filled a DVD that would indicate around 2000mb+ of info written, check your file sizes again.

 Since you had said I couldn't "screw up" how the files were downloaded, I went another route.I wondered if perhaps one could have a corrupt file. (Two of the files did a lot of searching for new sources before completing the download.I left those out, and another that sputtered a bit during play.)

First I tried burning just 6 files with my program, and successfully created a CD.
I then transfered all but 3 files from DVD into my laptop, where Sonic is the burning program.
There I burned 12 files, then 19.It appears problem is solved.

I hadn't looked for alternate solutions because I had assumed I installed WinMx incorrectly.
Thank you so much! :D
