tmpgenc problem converting

i am converting a file from .avi to .mpeg. when i put the .avi file in the video source i get a message saying: File: (file name and address) cannot open, or unsupported. does anyone know whats wrong with it?

You probably need codecs and some TMPGEnc help - try here http://www.rita.lt/

Canada Joe put you on the right track. You could have at least mentioned what software you are using to encode, and what you are encoding to (vcd, svcd, dvd mpeg). But I would guess that you don't have the codec necessary. Read the FAQ at the site Canada joe mentioned...
