avi/TMPEnc

Postby Canada Joe on Sun Mar 14, 2004 9:26 pm

Means you need the proper codec I think. I used to have that same problem with PAL vids from Europe so...installed a s**t-load of codecs (ACEMCP593PRO) and nothing refuses to run/convert now  I imagine DAP's site http://www.rita.lt/ would provide most and the Nimo packs can be had at http://www.softpedia.com/public/scripts/romanianhero/11-2-2-12/

Yes, Canada Joe is right that not having the right codecs necessary to decode the avi could be a reason. Other reasons may be that the audio is ac3 or vbr (variable bitrate), meaning you need to decompress the audio before loading it into tmpgenc. You can decompress the audio quickly and easily with one click using AVI Audio decompressor (you can get it in the tools section of http://www.rita.lt/) and just use the pcm file for the audio in tmpgenc. If you need more help, you can download my tmpgenc guide: http://www.rita.lt/video_tools/TMPGEnc%202.5%20ILLUSTRATED%20%20GUIDEv.2a%20by%20js.zip

These people are giving you the wrong answer. The priority must be raised to two in the configuration.Reserch TMPGEnc at Afterdawn.com.The answer is there and it will work.

TMPGEnc & avi's

Postby Canada Joe on Wed Mar 24, 2004 9:14 am

Since guest's origional posting is now 10 days old I would assume he/she has found the answer...if not...I think dap's url's will get you a lot more help than Afterdawn (went there and got some commercials but not an inkling of help). At least the .pdf help file uses actual TMPGEnc settings/illustrations whereas mr335's recommendation of:
The priority must be raised to two in the configuration.
would be very difficult to follow as the options in priority settings are High, Normal & Idle

ALthough I respect anyone who posts on forums and helps, the answer is not the wrong one, it is one of a few options. Raising the priority in Environmental Settings is one of the things covered in the link to the guide that I posted, however, I always use it as a last option because it does slightly affect the quality of the encode, and after 1. decompressing the audio 2. changing the 4cc, if it STILL doesn't work, only then do I suggest increasing the priority, because I am always after getting the best quality first.

Hey Canada Joe if you'd look at the link that says GUIDES,you'll find plenty of usefull information at Afterdawn.com.If you plug in TMPGEnc in the search block(like I suggested),it tells how to raise the priority among other things.Look I'm just trying to help somebody in an open forum.Quit with the superior attitude!

I told you I respect anyone who helps. Now if you actually reread what you posted below, I don't think I'm the one with the superior attitude. What I posted wasn't meant to sound superior.
