TMPGEN2.5 ERROR

Postby ed24dpnt on Wed Jan 14, 2004 12:22 pm

I have split my avi with a dub mixer, but when I try to create a mpeg I get an error (file not supported). It is only 14 fps, could this be it. It plays back on computer, but need to covert to mpeg to burn. Thanks.

Sorry it took so long to answer, I have been away a bit... It's more than likely the framerate (why anyone would encode a movie at 14 fps is beyond me), and the frequency also has to be right for the framerate. I don't really know what to suggest, as simply reencoding the avi will not work either, you would need to telecine it, adding frames, and i don't know what the result would look like... So I would suggest either scrapping it or just keeping it around to watch on the comp :(

Try first to change the directshow codec reader priority settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 2 or to the top of the plugin-list and try reopen the video.

I copied the above info from, http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tmpgenc#problems

hope it worx 4 u,

ps. there r some movies ppl have that come off of an irc room that shall remain nameless, these movies are usually encoded @ 14fps with low bit rate divx compression for video & mpeg layer 3 for audio from what i have seen to decrease the size of the file for faster transfers.

Twizted, unfortunately that won't do the trick, increasing the environmental settings won't work because it won't insert the needed amount of frames to make it at least 23 fps - although increasing the environmental settings does often solve some problems tmpgenc has with reading avi files (with a bit of quality loss), but before doing that I try changing the 4cc to see if that helps - then there is no quality loss. But that's a different issue...
