i converted a .avi to .swf i placed it in my htdocs folder and it never loads any ideas?

Unless some moderators and readers of the forum are web design experts and are able to help you, you might want to post on a forum that specifically addresses web page design to get some qualified answers. I'm far from being one.

Providing some more info would be helpful, as well. Where are you hosting? Is this some professional hosting place, a friend with a unix server, or are you running windows web server?
Are you able to pull up other files in the htdocs folder? Make sure you have your capital letters correct.
Make a link to the file and see if you can do a 'right click > save as'.
