I had Winmx before and after it went under and within the last year, my computer died. I rebuilt my computer and reinstalled as much as possible, but was never able to reinstall Winmx. Ive been to this site many times and reinstalled many versions, many patches, removed them, reinstalled different combinations and all with no luck. I gave up for a few months. I want to try again, but I think what I should do is just start from the beginning, just like I am brand new to Winmx. Is there someone out there that could guide me through the process, step by step. I would really appreciate it. If needed I can give you my E-mail address and we can communicate directly. I have done this so many times, I must be doing some simple thing wrong. I hate to think that I'm just a moron. Anyway thanks in advance to any and all help
Once your done installing, reboot, then post back here and let us know how you get on. There can sometimes be a few issues arising from Antivirus software, its not too difficult to solve if need be.
If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
Sorry it took so long to get back to you....OK
I tried installing Winmx 3.54 Beta and it said "minmx is configuring itself" and then came a message 'Winmx was unable to make an outgoing TCP connection to it's test servers"
I have windows XP..... I have AOL but my ISP is Covad.....it seems as though I got farther than this on previous tries but I am stopped here this time....also I have Norton Anti virus, which I shut down when I was trying to download Winmx
Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate. : Maybe we should send you to a concentration camp.
Did as you said....in Winmx setup, just said NO to everything and got to Winmx v3.54 beta <connecting> and would not connect...also button for slow speed dial up was selected and when I switched to DSL, etc, got message that no ports were selected.....here is my information for my Covad Isp Connection.........Covad
Device Name WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
Device Type PPPoE
Server Type PPP
Transports TCP/IP
Authentication MD5 CHAP
Compression None
Server IP address 172.31.255.252
Client IP address 67.101.100.217
Speed 100.0 MBS
can I go back to original setup and manually config using this info.....if so what numbers do I plug into each question.....again thanks in advance
that info is irrelavent for the manual config when it asks what your internet speed is, its just what shows up in the chat rooms and on a server. u can select what ever u want it doesnt change anything unless u pick cable or above and then it tries to make a primary connection
ive never known dial up to block connections
but if you could click start>run>type cmd > when the black box appears type ipconfig with no spaces and press enter then type what it prints to the screen and post back
First of all thanks for your help
I tried again at one speed slower than cable and get same message...Winmx was unable to make an outgoing TCP connection to it's test servers.......did as you said start>run>type cmd > when the
black box appears type ipconfig.........here's what came up on screen
