splitting a mpeg

i have an mpeg which is 62mins long and 800+mb, i hane ued tmpgenc to cut it down to 50mins, but when it finished it has on gone to 40 mins and after 20mins the sound goes? can anyone help? thnak you.

Why do you need to cut it down? A standard 700 mb cd will fit 74 minutes, disregard what it tells you in megabytes, mpegs are a bit different:

If what you are trying to do is get it onto a cdr, like I said, it will fit. Check it with your burning software before attempting to split something you don't need to.

the mpeg is 62.29mins long. 707mb (741,446,636 bytes). i am using roxio cd creater. the disc is 800+mb but it keeps telling me there is not enough room on the disc.

OK, well if ROxio is telling you that I guess it won't fit - go to the link I mentioned above and you can use TMPGEnc tools to split it, or get hold of a splitter like Easy VIdeo Splitter, which will split mpegs as well as avi's (but it's not freeware).

or try nero, and enable overburn on it.
