Hi folks, ive been reading today some stuff about speed optimizer software! Does anyone know if these actually work. I can currently get around 114-119kbps d/l on my 1mbps service.....am i being greedy by trying to go faster!.....is there even a way of going faster ?? any views appreciated !!!
The max speed you should be able to achieve is 125KBps, but due to the limitations of PPP you would usually get lower speeds. To me it sounds like your connection is in good shape, and what you have is a pretty good speed, in fact, its a little better than what I would expect for you connection.
is there even a way of going faster ??
Theorhetically speaking, there is, although itinvolves many changes to your registry and I wouldn't even recommend it to a professional. I don't know what the changes are but they involve editing UDP packet size and stuff like that.
As for your initial question, Internet Optimisers are a waste of time. They give you no benefit at all, and even if there is an improvement it is fairly small (Especially on DSL) and all the software does is hog up resources. In my oppinion, its not worth it.
Oh, and you should be happy about your speeds. I have a noobish 256/64 connection and all I get are downloads of 28KBps max
Sounds like your connection is getting just about everything its going to. 1mbit isnt going to go much faster than that.
Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate. : Maybe we should send you to a concentration camp.
how did you get that speed... i got 1.5 dsl... and the max im getting is 2-6 k so Im totally lost... I boosted it up to 17 when i turned off my firewall.. but i dont want that down for too long.
