Sounds out of line with the video

Postby The Thick Kid on Sat Jul 10, 2004 6:41 am

well.. ive download about 4movies now (avi & mpg's) and about 10min into the film the sound goes out of line with the video..

i.e - someone fires a gun and about 3-4secs later you will hear the gun fire.

is there anything i can do to make the sound and video match up?

Are these 4 movies the only ones you have ever downloaded or are they 4 out of 50 (i.e. I'm trying to determine whether this happens with all of your video files or not). If it's four out of many, it's usually because the audio has been encoded at the wrong frequency. Does the sound stay out of sync at the same delay or does it get worse as the films progress?

Well that's just it, I can't see how four video files that you have downloaded, in essence EVERY video you have downloaded, can be encoded wrong. Unless you got them from the same source, i.e. they were all encoded by the same person. There are a couple guides you can take a look at at http://www.rita.LT or else look for more guides and info at http://www.doom9.org or http://www.dvdrhelp.com - those will give you more possibilities than I can here.

Btw, what I mean by more info than I can give you here is that there is also a possibility of there being a hardware issue, and I'm just to the person to give advice on that... If the video files were out of sync from beginning to end I would say you have the delay wrong on your player or sound card.
