Sound problems on DVD

Postby Wacka-day on Fri Jul 30, 2004 12:24 pm

I've downloaded a movie from winmx, encoded it from mpeg to dvd format using tmpenc plus, then authored it and burnt it, as usual in tmpenc dvd author, but when i play it on my dvd player the sound cuts out after about 5 seconds into the movie, and never returns. Ive repeated the process a number of times but with the same results. The movie plays fine with no sound problems at all on my computer.
What can I do about this problem?
Would converting it to avi then running it through avi2vcd audio decompressor help at all?
please help
thankyou

Tough one. Have you tried demuxing the audio first in tmpgenc tools
http://www.rita.lt/video_tools/help/tmp ... xdemux.htm
and then either using the resulting mp2 as the audio source, or you can even try converting the mp2 to wav and use the wav as the audio source. Perhaps if there's a problem with the audio on the mpeg maybe that will do it. Good luck.

Okay, the de-muxing was kind of sucessful, my dvd player plays the sound and the video but not in the same order. Now a delay occurs between the sound and the video, only of about 2 seconds but its still a pain in the ass. how can i rectify this?
thanks

Sorry, but I just had another look at the dvd, and the sound actually cuts out completely at half way through the film. What the hell is going on!?! I begginning to consider throwing the bastard out the window.
The dvd is screwed and my hardrive is full of converted, coded, de-muxed versions of the same movie. Would deleting everything and downloading another version of the movie be a solution?

If you can find another version of the movie then yes, it would probably be an easier solution, because it sounds to me as if you spent more time trying to repair this one and could have had it by now. If possible, I don't know how rare this movie is, but I would always look for an avi first, if the person who encoded it knew what he/she was doing it will be better quality than an mpeg. From what I understand you downloaded an mpeg (but not altogether clear on that).
