Seeding and d/l speeds

Hey all.. I'm new to BT, so sorry if these questions seem noob-esque. It's because they are

Can I continue seeding a file once I've finished d/l-ing it? I'd like to for at least a while.

And I haven't been able to find anywhere that can give me rough estimates of what d/l speeds should be.. my upload speeds are almost always 30-50 KB/s, (with maximum upload rate bar maxed out) but I've never had more than 25KB/s d/l and usually 13-15KB/s. I don't have a problem with this, but if theres something I'm doing wrong that could improve my d/l speeds then that'd, y'know, be ok

Is 15kbs a decent average?

OK, have done a fair bit of trial and error, think what I was doing wrong was setting my upload limit far higher than my connection could handle.

If anyone is reading this looking for help, I recommend setting your Bit Torrent upload speed to about 85% of your total connection upload limit, so there is plenty of space clear for download requests.

I'm now averaging 30 KB/s download and 44 KB/s upload, which is much better.

right, set upload speed to 80-85% from your max upload bandwith
80% will be fine when you want to surf some websites
85% will be good when you only want to upload

you need some called "overhead bandwith" for your uploads (for the protocal data and headers)

the download speed results from the quality of the seeders, so more seeders = better upload, but maybe all the seeders have an horrible low uploadspeed so you can´t reach good download speed

otherways when your dl speed is always slow maybe you need to forward an port on your firewall / router if you have.

standard port is 6881 but maybe some isp are blocking / triggering this port so try to use another port above 30000 and up

It`s simple. Just don`t shut down your BT client instantly after you finish DLing and you will seed. You can open multiple BT clients, so you can DL another file, while seeding one.

Not that I`m some kind of expert, but I`ve tried and it works this way for me.
