Ripping DVDs

Postby cloudscraper on Sat May 22, 2004 9:00 pm

Hey all,

Is there any way around the DVD copy-control? Just want to rip some of my DVDs but the program i'm using (InterVideoDVDCopy2) won't do it.

Any suggestions?

Much appreciated.

DVD X Copy Platinum v3.2.1 does the job - do a search on WinMX - pretty sure you'll find a free copy Image

dvd region free or several others will 'remove' the copy control and region and other such annoying items of interest. http://www.dvdidle.com/ now you know what it is, download it. Works with so many ripping software and players and more. great piece of software. pup rates it a+, must have.

Thanks Lost Pup!

Works great but on some of my DVDs, I want the original Japanese audio. I set the options to the language but it always plays with the English translation.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again!!

Since you used the word "rip" I will assume that you only mean the part of the actual ripping process, that is getting the vobs onto your hard drive. I have found that the best app to get around the copy protection is DVD Decrypter, it is a bit more complicated that Smart Ripper (which is also what many use), but does a better job on copyrights.

I can rip them fine...it's just when i try to format them to DivX, it will only play the English audio.

I set the language to Japanese each time, but it still comes out in English.
Video and subtitles work fine, though.

it has been a while since i have used such programs, as i only do full dvd-r's nowdays. But if you go into smartripper (or others), there is the option to only rip the audio stream you want. Just rip the jap audio then encode it to what ever smaller version you need.

Blank dvd's of quality with case are only 60 cents each these days.
