In res halls and cant connect

I just moved in to a residence hall for college. I could connect to WinMX at home but now in the residence halls, I cant connect. I am connected to the internet but and not connected to the winmx network nor can i get into the chats on winmx. I did have to download an anti-virus program and i have disabled my windows live onecare and windows firewall. any ideas?

Check with your Network Supervisor.. many colleges limit or block access to p2p networks.

I will. Sorry to hear this. Is there any way to get free music with a firewall (ex: other programs, site) I tried bittorrent but didnt have enough time to figure it out all the way.
