Queues

Postby Death on Thu Jan 02, 2003 7:22 pm

if I'm trying to download a file I get into a qeue, but this takes a lot of time and if a user suddenly disconnects and comes back I have to start all over again, this means in more then 20 hours I've downloaded completely nothing!!!
antother issue with qeues are that they are so long and this takes a lot of time
is there a way to speed this up?!?

P.s I've got a primary connection

in short - no

ways to speed things up.

multi-source the file
trade
beg for a start

the problem is bandwidth. so many people want stuff and there isnt bandwidth to provide it to everyone.

if i share 1 file, and 400 people want it, then it is gonna take a long time for the 400th person to get it.
multiply this by 1 million, and you see the problem.

 Here's another tip: refresh your connection at the "networks" tab. You'll potentially get a whole different group of sources to download from. You may be 109 in a queue with the current pool of sharers you're with, but if you refresh it's like rolling all the dice all over again. You'll get a fresh "batch" of potential sharers and may get lucky and be #9 in their queue instead of #109. This works for secondary connections, I assume for primary too. Do this sparingly though: when you refresh you potentially cut off all those in your queue who haven't yet started downloading from you, as well as all those queues you're in.
