Question about primary connection on WinMX

I am currently at moms, her LAN is wireless and is behind a CG814WGv2. When on this connection I can only use secondary on WinMX. I am going to be setting up an internet connection at my apartment. And I was wondering if I setup a cable internet connection with a cable modem minus the LAN, can I connect to primary on WinMX? By the way I am on Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3

Yes, as long as you add WinMX to "Exceptions" in the Windows Firewall. If your modem has a built in router you will probably have to forward the UDP & TCP ports WinMX uses in it as well.
