QPEL Codec

I previously wrote regarding a program to reencode video files to a higher bitrate.

As things turned out, that is not the problem -- I have a number of files that have the above-referenced codec, which means they will never play in my DVD DIVX player.

So, my question now is this: is there a way to reencode these files and filter out this particular codec?

QPel is not a codec, it is a setting that can be used both with xvid and with the newer divx codec releases, and yes you're right, your divx player will not play them, as only a few avi-compatible dvd players out there support qpel (quarter pixel). The answer to you would be the same as before, stick the avi into AutoGK and reencode it. When installing AutoGK make sure to checkmark that you have an ESS chipset dvd player, that way it will not use qpel in codec settings if you decide to use xvid instead of divx to encode.
