I am using VirtualDub 1.5.10 to join the two avi files. When i go to save it as a new avi file i get the message 'No audio decompresser could be found to decompress the source audio format'. Anyone know what i need to fix this, or is their an alternative? Ive used it before and had no problems. The two files are also AC3. Thanks
The standard VDub doesn't accept ac3 audio, so you will need to modify it (you can find out how through the link above) or else change the audio on it.
Also make sure you have an ac3 audio filter installed. If you don't you can get it in the codecs section at www.rita.LT

Did you set video to direct stream copy? If you didn't, and you didn't choose a compression, then what you probably did is reencoded the avi instead of just joined it, in essence decompressing the video.
Make sure you have Direct Stream Copy checked under video.
