bitcomet client will attempt to preview media files, but it is limited. Bt breaks files into many pieces rhat aren't downloaded in any particular order, so it's hard to preview. You may have the end downloaded, but still have many gaps to fill before the file is playable. Winmx and many other napster clones download from beginning to end of a file, so it's easier to preview.
But it seems that different BT clients have different options. I have used Bit Tornado so far and there is no way to preview. And VLC player is trying hard to put at least something together, but it is obvious that I started DL from the end of that particular file
And when it`s up to WinMX, I`m familiar with it`s way
Some clients such as Azureus allow you an option to give priority to the first pieces of a file, which means you can usually view the first half a minute of a movie file when you have a few % done.. and yep VLC is the best player to use for checking of course
