The other day I made the mistake of checking the PG2 history.
After 15mins of gurgling noises I found that over a period of 6 months PG2 had stored over 1.7GB's of history!!!!!, that’s 1.7 GB's of ones & zero's clogging up valuable hard drive space!!

Anyhoo, iv read that its better to set PG2 to delete history every 1 to 2 days.

Well I have tried this in PG2 settings, but it appears that it won’t save these settings after you restart your computer.

Please can anyone else here that uses PG2 please confirm that they do or don’t have the same problem.

Or just use PGlite. http://blocktards.com has it preconfigured and ready to go. All you need to do is install and run. It is a stripped down version of PG, has no logging or any other unneeded features.

Hey Debaser, I'm running pg2 & have it set to archive & remove logs every three days. It's working fine. Maybe try a fresh install? Sorry no better help on that. One thing with pg-lite, I remember reading somewhere that it doesn't support an exclusions list. Please correct if I'm mistaken folks. Depending on how many blacklists you're using, no allowed list might be a big pain.

Hi ontheverge

I did the fresh install but PG2 still wont save the settings, and now you say yours does I am even more confused.

PG2 won’t even save my choice of turning off the blinking icon in the systray.

I gave PGlite a go, but I was not that impressed, but I appreciated the suggestion.

As ontheverge said
it doesn't support an exclusions list

Also, you cannot open up the program to set it to start automatically when Windows fires up, nor can you see blockings in progress, hell you just cant open up the darn program when you click the PGlite icon.

Iv reinstalled PG2 and ill just put up with the problems and live in hope the next PG will be better than this one.

Cheers

Sorry Debaser, steered you wrong last post (note self-check, don't go by memory). I have pg set to remove history every 3 days. There is a bug with the 'archive & remove' function (no news there). With it set to 'remove' history instead, it doesn't reset for me on reboot.

If you're worried about getting a letter & want to log your history in order to have something to check against, just export it to your hard disk (pg->view history->file->export). You can just zip those text files & burn 'em to cd.

Because I have it set to remove history every 3 days, I export it after every session. Keeps the history database nice & small. You could also set it to 'do nothing' & after exporting a months worth or so to disk, manually clear the history database (pg->view history->file->clear database). Play around with it a bit, depending on your amount of activity & log sizes you'll find a routine that works ok.

Supposedly archive & remove will be fixed with the beta7 release. cheers

Thanks ontheverge

Basically I can do anything with PG2 except save any of the settings, so I'm gonna have to just delete the history manually.

The reason I want to get rid of history is simply to keep unnecessary files from clogging up my hard drive (1.7GB's in not many months!!!), its nothing to do with anyone else seeing them.

Deleting manually is just another boring procedure I would liked to have avoided, but cant :(

I am sure the chaps that created PG2 are working very hard to fix the problem :|

It's a bit low budget, I know. I await the day when I can say to my computer "Becky, clear pg history", and the reply comes "as you wish, big boy". Ahh, the future. lol

lol yeah

and at the end of the day, I probably shouldn't complain to much about a program that is free to download let alone designed to help me!

http://www.blocktards.com get pglite with p2p blocklist.

No logs to bother with, and almost no resources.
