Some movies I have are watchable, but are in need of repair to correct defects. Three questions: How does one repair AVI files? How does one repair MPG files? Only several of the several hundred movies I have time out on everyone even though I can view them just fine, can they be changed somehow so that they're uploadable to others?
Since you say they are watchable, using a trick like DIVFIX probably isnt what you are after. Rather you are interesting in maybe, audio sync problems and blurbs or video flickers, and maybe even some basic video editing such as smoothing the picture or removing a watermark.
Since you have not been specific in what you want to do to the video, it is hard to give an exact how-to answer. Rather i point you to http://nickyguides.digital-digest.com/index.htm as this contains some editing and basic problem fix guides for both mpeg and avi. also notworthy for the ability to search bbs for perhaps the exact situation is http://vcdhelp.com
As far as a timeout, that has really nothing to do with quality of picture. you can send someone a complete junk file and it will transfer just fine. Perhaps that problem of transfering lies somewhere else.
