.oo1,.002, etc file extensions

Postby new2tor on Sun Oct 16, 2005 6:56 am

I have downloades files that all have numerical file extensions (.001, .002, - .051) and then a .sfv. I found out what the .sfv is but cannot locate what to do with the number extensions. Any help?

Can also be generated by Quickpar. If there are any files shared together with them that ends in par2. If this is the case you can gather the files in one directory and open the par2-file with quickpar to both verify and join the pieces. But most probably generated by HJSplit or Mastersplitter or another binary file splitter like pointed out. Just search for these tools in your favourite search engine.;)

They are WinRAR files. No self-respecting release group would use anthing else.

klownsRus is absolutely right, they are, indeed, winrar archives, by using the option to split the archive into volumes of so many m/k/bytes max length, you get several files with numerical extensions, however, it's usually r01, r02, r03, etc. but when the archive is split into more than a specific number, it defaults to having the r replaced by a 0 in the extension.

Usually, software releases are made in this manner.

So, what game did you download?
