Olympic fireworks faked

Postby Vladd44 on Mon Aug 11, 2008 1:47 pm

It seems the Chinese decided to pull a fast one on the public. What a shock.

the Beijing Olympic Committee defended the action because of the city’s hazy, smoggy skies, which made such a complicated display at night too difficult to pull off successfully.

Committee members also said they were concerned that the helicopter pilot who would have flown overhead to film the fireworks would have been “at risk by making him try to follow the firework route,”

From the people who gave you lead paint in children's toys, poisonous dog food, puts their detractors in psychiatric hospitals and forced abortions. Now we have fake fireworks because their air is to filthy to do what they wanted in reality.

What a joke.

I for one have not watched the olympics, it is google's fault that I am even aware they are currently going on.

Other than Bush's inability to slap an offered ass, and this fake fireworks drama, I personally prefer to have nothing to do with China.

I have been considering a boycott of all chinese goods, one that I am sure will not be easy to adjust to, but I just dislike the idea of my money going to an enemy.

What do you expect from this country ? All from china is crap, poisonous and faked.
Its such a controlled and corrupted country even the internet is controlled for the foreign olympic reporters. Some years ago some criminals were shoot by the government in the stadium where the games are right now. This should be a reason why the olympic games shouldn´t be in this country...besides the reason that they kill the
Tibetan.

Lip-synching the song at the opening ceremony

I guess when you deny basic human rights to your people, the most important thing to do is present an image of good dental results to the world as the new improved China.

imagine reading reports every few months about how "tooth decay in Our Country is down 8%". if u allowed urself to think about it at all, u wud realise that, eventually, if the reports had been true, perhaps only 1 in 100 ppl wud have bad teeth. yet by some amazing coincidence everywhere u go half the ppl have bad teeth.
the news reports in orwell's 1984 were peppered with these reports of 'improvements' that somehow never filtered down to the People, and such blatant propagandising characterised the soviet union thru the full course of its history. and in places where the 'People's' party is out of power, it takes the negative form by attributing imagined 'crises' (which also fail to filter down to the people at large) to the Establishment curently in place. strangely, there are always huge numbers who will repeat the reports that contradict the evidence of their own eyes and experience.
fake fireworks? milli-vanilli 'singing'? 9 yr old 'teenagers'? i see nothing surprising here. when control-freak interventionist govts fail to produce positive results, they must fake them to retain power. and when they are long-accustomed to working with a captive population who will unhesitatingly admire the emperor's new suit, they expect outsiders to do likewise. and most of those outsiders probably will. despite a minority of squawkers now, i will not b at all surprised if the deceits are overlooked today, and never make it to tomorrow's history classes. none are more willing to self-deceive than the religious.
what suit will the emperor be modeling next week? well, although the plans may change as ppl like me make fun of em, i'v heard that the democratic convention plans to showcase as its glorious green mascot a humongous wind generator thingy from a small town in eastern colorado. it's 'propellor' shafts are as long as a 747! it can power half the town! theoretically.... underneath the self-righteous hoopla will lie a device that cud not carry its own weight or water, but was purchased with 'carbon credit' indulgences; a device that (theoretically --but then it's always 'theoretically' isnt it?) cud power half the town, but hasn't because, well, it keeps breaking b4 they can get it up to full speed.... but hey, they'll work the bugs out. honest. now let go of that f**k wallet b4 u lose that hand, asshole. and queue up for ur coupons . . . .
they parade two-thousand and eight drummers in absolutely perfect synchronisation, and we can see their vision --individuals painted over with a brush that wants us to never see anything but one single Unit. they showcase the lip-synching cutie while the plainer girl provides the real song from behind the curtain, and we can hear in it their real message --"ur own work and talents do not belong to u. they, like u, are but commodities belonging to others, to the People." they show us the fake fireworks, and we have yet another chance to realise that, fake or not, fireworks is all they've ever offered.

but hey, don't forget to vote for obama!

Well, once your teeth start falling out, the decay rate does fall. It doesn't mean that only 1 in 100 would have bad teeth. On the contrary, only 1 in 100 would have good teeth and the rest have at least half their teeth missing. Missing teeth don't decay. :P

Please let me know how this goes for you! I myself have tried to avoid buying from China and it isn't easy. Even items that claim they are made in the USA still have parts that come from China. Also when faced with paying 1 dollar for something that comes from China or 5 dollars for something made elsewhere most consumers (and I'm no exception) find it hard not to opt for the cheaper alternative.

National Geographic dedicated their entire May 2008 issue to China the "Forbidden City." And in reading through that issue I started to realize just how powerful China is and will continue to become. Here are some facts presented in that issue:

1. China is expected to overtake the U.S. as the world's largest economy in ten years.
2. China has the world's highest number of annual deaths triggered by air pollution.
3. In 2006 one of China's manufacturing companies exported 1.6 million Christmas trees (a holiday they do not celebrate themselves) to the U.S, and that was just for that one year.
4. China has the world's largest number of Internet users- 220 million- surpassing Web surfers in the U.S.
5. Percentage of U.S. toys made in China = 80%
6. Percentage of U.S. shoes made in China = 72%
7. Percentage of U.S. Christmas trees made in China = 85%
8. Percentage of the unsafe toys recalled in the U.S. in 2007, that were made in China = 100%

Something even more alarming is the amount of pollution China pumps out into the world:
It's cheap, it's dirty, and it's fueling the burgeoning number of electric plants that provide power to China. Coal consumption has more than doubled since 1990, and even the world's largest coal producer can barely keep up. China is constructing the equivalent of two midsize coal-fired power plants each week- adding a capacity comparable to the entire U.K. power grid each year. What does that mean for the planet? China recently surpassed the U.S. in carbon dioxide emissions.

-National Geographic, May 2008 issue. pg. 144

If everyone boycotted China's inferior, sometimes lethal products, we could help to stop China from continuing on this course. China will continue to sell to the U.S. whatever the American consumers are willing to buy. So unless we make a change in how we buy we share responsibility for what is occurring in China. We all share the same planet, paying a few bucks more to avoid products made in China won't be easy, but the cost of not doing so seems even greater.
