New user needs help

I just found out about bittorrent and I have been trying to start downloading but I just can't seem to get the hang of it.

I have downloaded the client BitTorrent 3.4.2 and installed it. I have found search sites and I have found things that I want to download. This is where I get stuck. I click on things that I want to download and up pops a window asking me if I want to open or save the file. I choose open and BitTorrent 3.4.2 opens and I see that the file that I picked is there and after a while it starts to download but it is really slow. What can be wrong?

Hmmm you may not have a problem as such, it might just be that the available sources are very slow for the file you selected, BT can be very fast, but its not always the case, if i were you i would pick a number of very popular files and give them a go, see what speeds you can acheive, if you still have a problem, post here again....
