New to this, please help

Postby paula042 on Sat May 14, 2005 9:57 am

Hi all,

I'm very new to the world of music downloading, and I wonder if you could please direct me to a source of help for a couple of questions.

I have downloaded Azureus, and am beginning to understand the main thrust of this program. I've conquered the main technical stuff, have a decent download/upload speed and I've downloaded a live show from bt.etree.org. I even left the thing running all night so I could upload as well.

Here are the questions: How do I know if I have the whole file? How do I play the music that I downloaded, or put it onto a CD? I have two directories full of files with extensions like .md5, .shn and .skt. I am lost here, and cannot find the answers anywhere.

I appreciate any help, and promise that one day I'll help someone in return!

Thanks,
Paula

http://research.umbc.edu/~hamilton/shnfaq.html <--- what to do with md5 shn files.

Not the easiest type to use etc, but thats beside the point now that you have them :)

You know if you have th whole file if Azureus begins seeding them. (on the bottom half of My torrent section of Azureus)

The link should also cover how to play them and burn them if you wish.
Jewish Kid: Is anyone else having problems concentrating on this? I just can't seem to concentrate.
Cartman: Maybe we should send you to a concentration camp.

Thank you! I guess I have the whole thing, as I am now uploading and the program says there are 7 peers in the group. I will visit the link you gave me and keep working at it. I think I'm going to like this, once I figure it out!
