Nerovision Express 3 Problem

Postby Dire_Wolf on Tue May 24, 2005 5:25 am

I'm trying to burn an un-signed series to DVD, I have managed to obtain the AVI files via Irc and they are encoded in Divx.

Firstly, I've managed to burn episodes 1-25 over two DVDs without a problem.

Now when it comes to episode 26 upwards, the disc burns fine but when I put it in the dvd player the video is extremely jerky, probably about 3 frames per second, whereas it plays perfectly on my pc.

I've tried burning twice with the same results now so I'm stumped, the video files play perfectly through windows media player and the first 25 burned ok.

Can anybody think of any diagnostics I could run on the video files so to find out whether they are at fault or reccomend an alternative to nerovision express 3?

Think thats everything, if i've missed out something blatantly obvious, please reply!

Cheers in advance

I assume you mean you are playing them on an avi-compatible (mpeg4) standalone dvd player. Check and see if the episodes you mentioned are divx 3 - if so, many standalones don't like it. It also might be that something is simply wrong with one or a few of the episodes, like corrupt frames, etc. A standalone is more sensitive than the computer in the sense that it won't overlook some issues, whereas a computer can often overcome those minor glitches.

Hi again,

What i'm doing is converting all the episodes using nerovision express 3 into standard dvd format, as my player does not support divx at all.

I've had a look through a few of the later episodes using virtualdub and they do seem to have errors, which could be confusing nerovision express, just seems weird that they play ok, but wil not convert.

Ah well, i'm getting round this problem by taking the audio and video apart using virtualdub and then stitching them back as mpeg's using tmpgenc, it seems to be working a treat, just annoying that the process takes about 3 hours per episode, ah well, what must be done must be done

Cheers again :D

Glad you found a solution, but if you have about 70 US dollars to spend, and much easier and time-saving solution would be to buy an avi-compatible (mpeg4) standalone dvd player. Then you won't have to convert them at all.
