need help with possible virus or glitch in notebook

Postby ridesapaint on Sun Dec 16, 2007 7:27 pm

I could use some help with possible viruses. i have installed Sygate firewall, but am unable to use it with my new wireless router, so Sygate is allowing all. my Google homepage and email page recycle, click, click, click, click and never opens. is there a way to scan for viruses without having McAfee or Norton or other virus scans? also, there is an update for windows XP that fails to load, so i think i have a hidden problem and don't really know what I'm doing.
any ideas for a ditsy blond?
Update for Windows XP (KB934238) is the update i am unable to load.

Download Adaware from here : http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Per ... l&tag=top5

Scan a full-system scan removing both critical and negligible infected objects.

Adaware will remove all yr spyware.

After that do a Trend Micro scan from here : http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Trend Micro will remove all worms, viruses, trojans and spyware and even report yr vulnerabilities.

After that yr comp shd be clean.

Pls install AVG from here : http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff

AVG is a free antivirus program.

For more varieties of free firewalls and antivirus programs, look at http://www.blocktards.com

Right click yr Sygate firewall icon on yr systray and when an application window opens up ... make sure all the boxes on the left of all the applications of that window is clicked and click OK.

After that, yr comp processes r allowed thru Sygate and Sygate will work fine.
