1 kb/s need help.

Postby Jimborg on Sat Aug 27, 2005 8:25 pm

I'm running the latest version of Bit-torrent that I know of (4.0.3) and I use windows XP

The file that I'm downloading has a swarm of 30-40 people would be a safe estimate, in which there are 6-8 seeders.

This version of Bit Torrent has a slider that lest you adjust your speed at which you upload/download, yet I'm having serious difficulty getting anything resembling normal speed. (I'm getting 0-1KB/s)

I also been getting two error messages:

Tracker announce still not complete 60 seconds after starting it

Problem connecting to tracker - <urlopen error (10060, 'Operation timed out')>

Any suggestions you guys have will be extremely appreciated. I'm at my wits end over here

its probably just that file, the tracker error just means that the tracker is having problems - and the low speeds ould just be that its a torrent with a lot of leeches on

and btw, that slider only adjusts the upload limit (and the download limit is related to that) it doesn't control download speed, as it can only download as fast as the other users send at - which isn't very fast by the sound of it

try a different torrent from somewhere else :-)

Thank you, I did not once consider the Seeder/Lecher ratio. I'll be looking for another torrent now, hope this one works better. :?

BTW could share a good site to look for torrents? Ever since SuprNova went down I've been having difficulty finding active torrents.

One last thing, when I'm looking at the list of peers, whats the difference between 'local' and 'remote' ?

Local means you initiated the connection and remote means it was initiated by a peer.
