mpg files Stoped playing suddenly!

Hi! recently, mpg files stoped playing on any player except DVD players (Power DVD, win DVD etc..) There is no error, just a black screen. The name of the file shows in the player and the player says "playing" but the bar doesn't progress. This wasn't a problem up until a month ago and I don't know what I did.

I checked some of my mpg files with Gspot and all is n.a. except that it is a "mpg/mpeg/vcd". (the vcd must explain why it DOES play with DVD players.

starngely, some mpg files DO play, but with no pictues, just a black screen. I might even see the picture at first for a split second and then it goes black.

It is not a LCD problem because I tried that already.

All other video formats play fine.

What happened to my mpg files?????

System Restore might fix it. If nobody has a better suggestion, it might not hurt.

You'll find it in your start menu under programs, accessories, system tools, System Restore.

If you can reset your computer to a time when videos still worked, you might be ok.

It's probably an mpeg codec conflict, but I always recommend playing mpegs with PowerDVD or WinDVD on the computer anyway, many software players can have trouble with mpegs, particularly svcd's.
