My MP3's wont play anymore !!!!!

Last night I dl'ed a player for MP3 Pro http://www.mp3prozone.com/ For about 5 minutes things were great then NONE of my MP3's would play on any of the players I have ... WINMP - soundblaster - MP3Pro

I uninstalled the player still no sound from MP3's ...

I uninstalled and reinstalled components for my sound card ... no sound from MP3's, on HDD or the ones stored on CD after trying that ...

MIDI's and WAV etc play fine ...

Here is the curious part (curious for me at least) I can burn those unplayable MP3's to CD as audio files and they play ... wtf???

Any suggestions as to how to correct this? Have I run into malware?Software conflict? .... :cry:

you didnt by any chance convert your mp3 files to mp3PRO files did you ?

seems that the mp3pro player is a way to shrink the bitrate and file size without giving up quality.

there is a "plugin" for winamp, maybe that is an equilavant of a codec. http://www.mp3prozone.com/download_winamp.htm

Well ..... went to site dl'ed plug-in ... it stalled/hung while trying to detect a player ... sooooo in desperation went and dl'ed musicmatchjukebox player basic ..... magically ALL is back to normal ...

PS ... checked the bitrates on the unplayable - now playable - files and they haven't changed ... still called MP3's and the bitrate was 128 hmmm - file size is the same too ... very very odd ...
