Mp3 files will not play in itunes or quicktime

Once I have downloaded bittorrent mp3 files, they will not play in itunes. They are shown as mp3's, and itunes will launch when I click them, but nothing plays or is even acknowledged. I am running on mac osx and I initially thought this was a glitch, but I have tried numerous albums from different sites, and I end up with the same result each time. Please help!

I actually think the university I work for is blocking the complete downloads........

If you downloaded them, your not blocked.

But,

how do you know they finished? because of filesize? or because the bittorrent client said they were finished?

have u actually checked the file size? When u DL BT files it creates the folder prior to you actually DLing anything, u may find the folders contain nothing hence you wont be able to play them.

I can't get Itunes to play an album I downloaded through WinMX.

The irritating thing is that the Window's Media Player will.

I've tried using Winamp but it tells me it cannot do anything to the file.

I don't get it, an MP3 file is an MP3 file isn't it?

Just because it is labelled an mp3 file doesnt make it one.
