Mozilla Extensions

Postby Vladd44 on Fri Jan 07, 2005 7:52 pm

I must confess since switching from opera to firebird, and then firefox, I have become obsessed with extensions.

There are a few that make browsing so much better...

Some of the ones I typically run are.

Statusbar clock, simple but it works for me.
Focus Last Selected Tab
Add BookMark Here (helps bookmark management) Opera Users will remember something similar
DownloadSort which can auto direct specific file types to specific folders./
Copy as Plain Text - Self Explanatory
Paste and Go - Allows you to paste a link into address bar and immediatly go, rather than have to press enter first
Open in IE , adds option on right click to open the page in IE for those rare pages that use illegal design
Adds an option to IE right click to open a page in Firefox, for those programs that insist on defaulting to IE
Gogle Pange Rank extension - Displays a pages google pagerank in statusbar
Single Window allows all windows to be forced to open in tabs instead of individual windows.
Close tab on Double click (For 1.0PR not full release, but if u override , it works fine with 1.0 full version
BB Codes allows one to close to paste items with bbcodes already in place. Can also right clock for smileys etc. Images, Quotes, url, selection url. You can also activate html and dhtml options of you wish
For all you Christians there is SuperBibleToolbar, or for those who wish to argue with Christians
COlorZilla, creates an "eyedropper" icon in bottom left of statusbar, click it, choose the color in webbrowser you want, a right click on dropper will then display color values in rgb values and hex
Dept of Homeland Idiocy Level updates to current HLS level with an insulting twist
Look Ahead - Opens the first x results of a search results in searchbar in different tabs
FoxyTunes - ALlows you to control any media player from bottom of browser.
Duplicate Tab - can duplicate, merge tabs, windows etc.
Triple Select - Selects entire paragraph on triple click..btw the link preview on this site isnt bad
Next Please - instead of searching a page for the next, just right click in page and choose next please
Drag to Tab - Allows you to open files etc by dragging them and dropping them on a tab, or even the new tab button.
SuperDragAndGo - Allows you to drag and drop a link (full or just text) to anywere on tab area and drop it to open in a new tab. Or drag and drop regular text to auto search in your default search engine
ForecastFox - Current and forcast weather embedded in browser, small, configurable, nice
MIninmizetoTray - Does exactly that, allows you to minimize Firefox to system tray
FireFTP - Allows you to use firefox as ftp client.
Bookmark Backup, makes a backup of setting on every exit
Remember session - allows Firefox to reopen the same tabs that were open when closed.
User-Agent Switch - Allows you to alter what your browser is reported as, can report as IE, Netscape, Opera or even customize it to report whatever you wise it to report.

I run all these, and a couple more without any interference, I told you I had become an addict.

I used to have the same problem at Sourceforge.. finally figgered them out .. now Mozdev is screwin' with me!
I've tried every link on that page and if Firefox is downloading the sort thingy it isn't showing the fact and I've checked download folder (which is where it's supposed to put downloads) and the Temp folder (which is where it often puts things).. mebbe that Trojan Horse thinks it's hay!!
So I reiterate.. if anybody can find the download link (1 that works) please post it..

btw here's a small tip i found for 56 k users

Here is what you should do to integrate it in Phoenix or Mozilla:

1. Copy the file 'dapop.dll' from 'DAP' folder (C:Program FilesDAP)
into the 'Plug-Ins' folder (C:Program Files<Mozilla or Phoenix>Plug-Ins)

2. Rename the copied file from 'dapop.dll' to 'npdap.dll'

DAP is now integrated into the Mozilla or Phoenix browser

There needs to be an extension that you can use to export a list of your extensions, just for discussions like this.

I use a lot of the ones that Vladd listed. I also like:

Image Zoom (right click and zoom any image)
http://www.yellowgorilla.net/imagezoom/

BugMeNot (share login for sites that require stupid login, like news sites)
http://extensions.roachfiend.com/index.php

Linkification (plain-text url becomes clickable link)
http://extensions.roachfiend.com/index.php
