I just installed the new patch (3.53). During the install I got messages about having to uninstall the Pie Updater, then another message about un-installing the previous WinMX version (3.53). Did all that and got the new version up and running. So does this mean the Pie Updater is no longer needed?
OK, cool. I had read all the instructions and never saw anything about that. I think it would be good for the instructions to mention this. The instructions are pretty vague. Pretty much says to click on the patch and it will take care of the rest. For a dude like me, that left a lot of questions. Like did it install over the old one, if so are the settings of the old one left intact, did the Pie Updater need updating, etc. I found out by doing it, that it indeed did not overwrite the other, it had to un-install it first, losing all settings of the old. Good thing I remembered my username. It also un-installed the Pie Updater in the process. I think more thorough instructions could eliminate a lot of questions before hand. Even something as little as during the message about un-installing the Pie Updater, a few more words in there saying that the Pie Updater would no longer be needed would be good. Just my comments.
Anyway, new updated WinMx is up and running with no connection problems.
I actually like that the Pie Updater is no longer needed. It was kind of a pain having to find the Host file each time and uncheck "read only" to get the updater to update it, then having to recheck that box. Now, don't have to think about it.
